WHAT WILL I LEARN? The HNC Construction and the Built Environment (Civil Engineering) offers a selection of varied and relevant modules. All will need to be completed, to achieve the full HNC. Level 4 core modules include: > Pearson Set Individual Project > Construction Technology > Science and Materials > Construction Practice and Management Specialist modules include: > Construction Information (Drawing, Detailing, Specification) > Mathematics for Construction > Principals of Structural Design You will also study one optional module. You will gain a thorough understanding of the technical, legal and scientific principles of construction, alongside management skills. PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES: Upon successful completion of the HNC, you can apply or progress into a range of roles in a professional, managerial or technical capacity in civil engineering management, structural design, quantity surveying, highways and transportation. You may choose to progress onto higher level study upon completion of this HNC. To progress, an additional application needs to be made. HOWWILL I BE TAUGHT? You will learn through a variety of methods including lectures, tutorials, case studies, discussion forums and masterclasses, delivered by industry experts. To aid learning and help build essential hands on skills, some modules are supported by practical work and field exercises. HOWWILL I BE ASSESSED? Assessment methods include written submissions, time-controlled examinations and practical activities. The variety of assessment techniques will ensure that you are given every opportunity to demonstrate your skills in all study areas.
