HNC MECHANICAL AND MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING Awarded by University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) THIS HNC: The HNC Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering equips graduates with an in-depth understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices, allowing you to systematically apply those principles to solve salient and often unpredictable engineering problems. The programme provides the expert knowledge, skill and confidence required to design, analyse and optimise mechanical systems, whilst developing industry relevant professional skills and attributes. Designed and developed with employers in mind, the course is studied on a part-time basis and has been created to provide progression opportunities to a level 5 qualification, followed by the BEng (Hons) at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), upon successful completion. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Preston College operates a flexible admissions policy, welcoming applicants with a wide range of qualifications and/or experience, with each application assessed on its own merit. We also recognise prior learning/attainment (RPL) and experience, meaning it may be possible to map some of your existing qualifications against the modules for the HNC Mechanical and Manufacturing qualification. If this applies to you, we will discuss this with you at the interview stage. For students who have recently been in education, we would expect an applicant to have one of the following: A-Levels: At least two A-Levels in an appropriate subject area (equivalent to 72 UCAS points) BTEC Extended Diploma (or equivalent): Level 3 in Engineering or another appropriate discipline at grade MMP or higher BTEC Diploma (or equivalent): Level 3 in Engineering or a similar discipline at grade DM or higher Pass Access Course: Pass Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma in a related subject International Baccalaureate: H7 Other qualifications: An NVQ diploma or equivalent competence based qualification. Applicants with industrial experience will be considered on a case by case basis for the course IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in each skills area) PLUS GCSE: English and Maths GCSE grade 4 (formerly grade C) or equivalent 50% of the previous cohort of students on this HNC gained new employment or a promotion, with 60% achieving a merit grade or above! 42
