The Intermediate Arabic course will mainly focused on spoken Arabic and practical communication.
Expected outcomes by the end of the 10 weeks:
Learners should be able to hold short conversations, ask and answer questions more confidently, describe situations and people and interact in everyday contexts using a wider range of vocabulary.
Difference between Beginner and Intermediate level:
While the Beginner course focuses on basic vocabulary and simple model sentences, the Intermediate level aims to develop longer conversations, broader vocabulary and greater confidence in practical spoken interaction.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Weekly topics / skills covered:
Week 1 – Review of key beginner language and basic introductions
Week 2 – Talking about daily life and routines
Week 3 – Asking and answering questions in conversation
Week 4 – Directions, places and simple travel situations
Week 5 – Shopping conversations and negotiation language
Week 6 – Talking about past experiences
Week 7 – Describing people and places in more detail
Week 8 – Ordering food and social conversation
Week 9 – Practical conversation practice in everyday situations
Week 10 – Extended speaking practice and final conversational task.
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
You will be taught in language-rich environment immersed in Arabic using visual aids, posters, labels and authentic materials written in Arabic to create an Arabic-speaking environment in the classroom.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
There are no formal assessments for this course. You will, however, be regularly assessed and provided with constructive feedback and offered guidance on areas for improvement.
Progress will be monitored through regular speaking activities during the course, with a final conversational task in the last session to demonstrate learners’ ability to communicate more independently. You are encouraged to keep a notebook to document your progress.
