LIGHT VEHICLE FITTING PRINCIPLES - LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA

Suitable for individuals who have already obtained a Level 1 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance or for those with substantial industry experience, this programme aims to develop knowledge of vehicle inspection with the opportunity to study both the theory and practical aspects of a range of routine vehicle inspection, fitting and maintenance procedures.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

You will study a selection of topics, including:

  • Routine light vehicle maintenance, including engine systems
  • Inspecting, repairing and replacing light vehicle tyres
  • Carrying out light vehicle four wheel alignment
  • Inspecting and replacing light vehicle, suspension dampers and springs, braking systems and components, exhaust components and vehicle batteries
  • A broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace

MODULES

Modules studied include:

  • Routine light vehicle maintenance, including engine systems
  • Inspecting, repairing and replacing light vehicle tyres
  • Carrying out light vehicle four wheel alignment
  • Inspecting and replacing light vehicle exhaust components, suspension dampers and springs, vehicle batteries and braking systems and components
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace, agreeing customer vehicle needs and other skills associated with working in a garage

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be taught through a combination of theory and practical sessions in the workshops. A blended learning option may also be adopted on this course, meaning elements of online, home study are also required.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment is made up of two core components including both practical tasks and online testing. You will complete practical assessments, with online tests completed at the end of each module. Written assessments will also be undertaken, allowing you to demonstrate learnt knowledge.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

Upon completion, individuals are able to progress onto a variety of Level 3 qualifications including Light Vehicle Maintenance (diploma) and Repair or Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Principles at Preston College, or an alternative Level 2 programme.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants are required to already hold a Level 1 Diploma in Automotive Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or substantial automotive industry experience.
