This qualification is designed for those already working in the decorative finishing and industrial painting sector who want to achieve a formal Level 2 qualification. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate your skills, knowledge and understanding against National Occupational Standards.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will learn and demonstrate how to:
Erect and dismantle access/working platforms in the workplace
Apply paint systems by brush and roller
Conform to productive working practices
Prepare surfaces for painting/decorating
Handle and store resources safely
Work safely and follow good health and safety practices

Mandatory Units:
Applying Paint Systems by Brush and Roller
Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace
Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare
Conforming to Productive Working Practices
Moving, Handling and Storing Resources
Preparing Surfaces for Painting/Decorating
Optional Units:
There are additional optional units covering advanced decorative techniques such as using air spray methods, stencilling, wall coverings, coving, colour effects and more.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You’ll be assessed on site by an occupationally competent assessor. Evidence will be gathered through observation, witness testimonies and a portfolio of work to demonstrate your practical ability and knowledge in line with industry standards.
HOW MUCH WILL THIS COURSE COST?
If you are aged 24 or above and do not already hold a full Level 2 qualification, you may be eligible to complete this course at no cost, depending on funding criteria.

Successful completion can lead to supervisory roles or progression to a Level 3 qualification in Painting and Decorating or Site Supervision.
