PERFORMING & PRODUCTION ARTS - LEVEL 2

The purpose of this course is to train you in techniques and skills which will enhance your overall ability levels. You will develop skills in all three major performance disciplines with the goal of progressing onto the Level 3 programme of Acting for Stage & Screen, or onto the Level 3 Musical Theatre programme.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The course will focus on the three main performing arts disciplines of Acting, Singing and Dance.

ACTING
You will study acting in a number of contexts, taking on specific technique classes which will be crucial to your progression. You will then apply this to scripts and musical theatre performances.

SINGING
You will develop your vocal abilities through singing in group scenarios. For the more confident and able singers you will be challenged with solo roles.

DANCE
You will get specific movement classes from highly trained dance teachers, learning routines which will develop your overall movement skillset. These routines will be performed within musical theatre performances.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

Our teaching ethos is about learning through experience. This course is all about preparing you for your next steps within the College, so it is key to experience all aspects. Projects are the core of our development process. You will take part in workshops and rehearsals each term which lead to public performances at Christmas and Easter, these lead towards the End of Year Show.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be assessed through coursework, portfolio of evidence and practical projects.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

You can progress to the Level 3 Performing and Production Arts course. This will further your skills and knowledge to make you THE MOST employable in the industry. Possible career progression routes include:

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

Please refer to our ATA and MTTA prospectuses for further information. There are opportunities for national and international trips, and study will sometimes include weekend and evening work.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You must have four GCSE Grades at 3 or above. You will complete an induction period to assess your suitability for this level and must go through a similar audition process as the Level 3 course requires, performing a monologue, song or dance of between two – three minutes.
