This qualification is designed for those working or looking to work as plasterers in the construction industry. It enables you to develop the skills, knowledge, and understanding required to prove your competence and progress your career.
This Level 2 NVQ provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate occupational competence in a real work environment and is suitable for those currently employed or with access to site-based work.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will develop your knowledge and practical skills in plastering to a recognised industry standard. You will study a minimum of 7 units - 6 mandatory units and and at least 1 optional unit.
Mandatory units include:
Applying finishing plaster to prepared surfaces in the workplace
Applying solid render to background surfaces and producing finishes
Conforming to general health, safety, and welfare in the workplace
Conforming to productive working practices
Moving, handling, and storing resources
Producing internal solid plastering finishes
Optional units include:
Applying projection plaster and render, maintaining equipment
Installing direct bond dry lining systems
Installing mechanically fixed plasterboard
Laying sand and cement screeds
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Assessment is carried out in the workplace by an occupationally competent assessor. You will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your skills and knowledge against National Occupational Standards for Plastering.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
On completion, you could progress to:
Advanced NVQ Level 3 in Plastering or related specialisms
Supervisory roles within the plastering trade
Further professional development in construction
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Students must be aged 16 or over and working in a relevant role in the plastering trade.
