This nationally recognised qualification is ideal for managers, leaders and professionals who want to develop their coaching and mentoring practice or work towards professional coaching roles.

You will explore coaching and mentoring in a professional environment, strengthening your ability to build effective relationships, ask insightful questions and provide constructive feedback.

Practical experience and critical reflection will deepen your understanding, help you evaluate your approach and improve the effectiveness of your coaching and mentoring practice.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Through this qualification, you will develop a deeper understanding of coaching and mentoring principles and how to apply them effectively in a professional environment. You will also evaluate your own practice and identify opportunities for continued development.

You will complete the following three units:

·         Principles of coaching and mentoring in a professional environment

·         Coaching or mentoring practice in a professional environment

·         Reviewing to develop own coaching or mentoring practice 

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

This qualification is delivered at Preston College, giving you dedicated time away from your day-to-day role to focus on your professional coaching and mentoring development.

Through a blend of theory, practical coaching experience and reflective practice, you’ll develop the confidence to coach and mentor effectively in the workplace.

Through tutor-led sessions, discussion, practical activities and shared learning with others, you will explore different approaches and develop your professional judgement. You will put your learning into practice through coaching and mentoring activities in your workplace between taught sessions.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will complete assessment activities and build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your understanding, practical skills and ability to critically reflect on and develop your coaching and mentoring practice.

As part of the qualification, you must undertake and record a minimum of 18 hours of effective coaching and mentoring, working with at least two and no more than four individuals.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

Successful completion of this course can support your development as a manager, leader, coach or mentor, strengthening your ability to develop others and contribute to a coaching culture within your organisation.

You can also explore professional development in leadership and management, or the use of AI in Leadership Practice.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

You will need access to individuals you can coach or mentor to complete the practical requirements of this course. Before enrolling, consider how you will arrange these opportunities and allow time for coaching and mentoring sessions, recording evidence and completing assessments alongside your taught sessions.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will complete a Skills Scan before starting the programme to ensure the qualification is appropriate for your experience and development needs.

You should have opportunities to undertake coaching or mentoring responsibilities in your workplace and be able to meet the practical requirements of the course. This qualification is particularly suitable for managers, leaders and professionals seeking to deepen their understanding and develop their coaching and mentoring practice.
