Preston College is the only Further Education College to offer a professional full-time course for male and female dancers who wish to perform or specialise in teaching. As a Further Education College we can enhance your experience with opportunities to study additional courses as part of your dancing qualifications. This gives you a unique opportunity to develop your creative abilities and achieve your ambitions. There are also visits to the theatre and guest workshops from choreographers, performers and examiners.
Our Professional Dance course aims to equip you with the highest level of training in preparation for your chosen career. The curriculum is integrated to be relevant to both the performing and teaching career routes and all courses are subject to inspection by the Young People's Learning Agency and Ofsted so you can be sure of quality. All course tutors are highly qualified, enthusiastic teachers or examiners and are fully ISTD and/or RAD registered.

Heather Burns - examiner and committee member of the ISTD.
Jacqueline Gray and Barbara Marsden - ISTD examiners.
Heather Rees - ISTD Modern, tap and national examiner and tap expert.
Andrew Hindley, Laura Bragagnini, Colleen Briody - all qualified in ISTD Certificate in Dance teaching Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Tap.
Andrew Margerison (Resident Director of Beauty and the Beast) for Jazz and Audition Technique classes.
Arthur Gourounlian dancer for Cheryl Cole and dancer and choreographer for TV - specialising in commercial jazz technique.
How to apply
The dance course is open to candidates from anywhere in the UK or abroad via audition. All applications should be made to: Heather Burns, Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent's Road, Preston, PR2 8UR. If your application is successful you will be asked to attend an audition and interview.

Auditions consist of Ballet and Jazz classes and are held in autumn, spring and summer. You must demonstrate a solo of your choice of style with the option to sing. A physiotherapist will be at the audition to give a full physical examination. Course direction will be mutually determined in the interview. You will be informed of the audition outcome on the day, with written confirmation made within three weeks of the audition date.
