New Apprenticeship Video Revealed

Preston’s College have teamed up with three well-known organisations to bring you a unique insight into how apprenticeships are becoming more and more valuable in the workplace.

The storyline focuses on how seven current and former Preston’s College apprentices are developing the skills, knowledge and behaviours that otherwise wouldn’t have been gained in the classroom.

Featuring Leyland Truck, Harrison Drury and Taylor Wimpey, the film also demonstrates how apprentices are adding value back to the employer.

Apprenticeships are quickly becoming a popular alternative to A Level and Higher Education study, with young people preferring to gain their qualifications whilst gaining hands on experience and an annual salary versus potential student debt.

Preston’s College is currently the largest apprenticeship training provider in the local area, operating across multiple sectors and industries.

Past and present apprentices who featured in the film include business administration apprentice Josephine Ryding and former business administration apprentice Laura Beard from Harrison Drury, Leyland Trucks’ HND Engineering apprentice Daniel Taylor and bricklaying, joinery and site management apprentices Liam Fisher, Kian Addison, Ryan Rowe, and Sam Donley from Taylor Wimpey.

Preston’s College would like to extend its thanks to both the employers and apprentices for their involvement in the production.

The video has been funded by Future U, a collaborative project bringing together universities, colleges, schools and businesses from across Lancashire. Future U is part of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) which supports young people to progress into Higher Education (HE) in areas where it has been identified HE participation of young people is much lower than expected.
