Science is a vast area with hundreds of opportunities across different sectors. You can choose to specialise in a field or use your skills to work in commercial areas. Areas of employment include academia, research, food science, chemicals, criminal investigation, environmental science, geoscience and healthcare sciences. You’ll need skills in problem solving, data analysis and presentation skills to collate the findings of your investigations into meaningful information.
At Preston College you’ll benefit from our iSTEM Centre with dedicated science facilities and equipment. There are dual use classroom and laboratories so you can put theory into practice. In terms of equipment there is a PCR machine which amplifies DNA, ultraviolet visible spectrophotometer, digital melting point apparatus, infrared spectrophotometer, a telescope and forensic kits.
