To start the new academic in style, over 120 Preston’s College Construction learners enjoyed a special trip to C&W Berry Ltd’s annual Trade Show.
Learners had the unique opportunity to interact with over 150 trade suppliers under one roof, enjoying demonstrations of new products set to be launched and finding out about the latest industry innovations.
Founded in 1954 and based on Golden Hill Lane in Leyland, C&W Berry is one of the largest suppliers of construction materials in the North West of England.
The trip included Level 1 and 2 construction learners studying on Site/Bench Joinery, Brickwork, Plumbing, Painting & Decorating, Electrical Installation and Plastering together with the new intake of Level 3 Professional Construction learners.
Mark Taylor, Head of Construction & the Built Environment at Preston’s College, said: “Throughout the year, Preston’s College provide learners with an array of enrichment opportunities including trade shows, site visits, professional demonstrations, work experience and competition entries.
“Events like this provide learners with direct interaction with industry representatives, helping to broaden their understanding of the construction sector and the possible pathways available.
“Ultimately, Preston’s College aim to make its learners the most employable they can be, ensuring they gain the technical-skills, knowledge and behaviour that employers and universities are looking for.
Preston’s College are currently training apprentices for some of the country’s best known construction companies, including Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon Homes, Barratt Homes and Wainhomes.
