Preston’s College construction learners recently enjoyed a guest lecture from Eric Wright Group Operations Director, John Hartnett.
Delivered to Level 1, 2 and 3 students in the state-of-the-art iSTEM Centre, the talk focused on the wide range of career opportunities in the construction industry.
Preston’s College has been in partnership with the Eric Wright Learning Foundation since November 2015, aiming to provide first class facilities for young people by replicating a live construction site featuring mini buildings or ‘pods’ with low-level scaffolding to mimic the various stages of construction.
Based locally, the Eric Wright Group is an award-winning leader in the UK property and construction industry, demonstrating a culture of excellence in civil engineering, construction, facilities management, property development, property management and health care.
Mark Taylor, Head of Construction & the Built Environment at Preston’s College, said: “Providing learners with industry lectures is a key enrichment activity to help student understand more about the industry they aspire to work in.
“The local infrastructure improvements that have come thanks to the City Deal means Lancashire needs access to skilled workers more than ever before and it’s our mission to ensure we help to bridge the skills gap.”
There are still a limited number of school leaver places available on Construction trade courses and Level 3 Professional Construction.
If you are unhappy with your current College course, you can switch to Preston’s College. Simply contact our Advice Centre on 01772 22 55 22 for more information.
