Preston’s College Level 2 Travel & Tourism learners took their skills to new heights by taking part in an aviation demonstration as part of an additional qualification.
To gain their Certificate in Aviation, learners immersed themselves in the airport experience, gaining a taste of a range of operations in each customer-facing role.
Learners set up check-in desks, luggage security, duty free, aircraft boarding desks and conducted on board safety presentations using real life equipment.
The aviation presentation provided learners with a a taste of life in industry, allowing them to gain valuable employability skills.
The UK boasts the third largest aviation network in the world and plays a key role in the UK economy, contributing £20 billion per annum to the economy and employing around 961,000 people.
Samantha Wilkinson, programme team leader for leisure and service industries at Preston’s College, said: “The learners demonstrated their industry knowledge brilliantly throughout their presentation.
“It’s fantastic to see learners working hard and gaining industry skills in a practical environment – it’s clear that they really enjoy it too!
“Preston’s College aims to make its learners the most employable they can be and exercises like this allows learners to put their theoretical knowledge into practice.”
