Monday 24 April saw the launch of our all new Elements – our hair, beauty and barbering salons!
After a full renovation, our Elements salons have officially opened to encompass additional and industry standard learning spaces for our hairdressing, beauty therapy, theatrical media hair and make-up learners, as well a designated area for our barbering students.
Preston College is the largest training provider for Adult Skills and Apprenticeships in Hair and Beauty in the Lancashire area – attracting more than 25% more adult learners compared to other local providers.
Fiona Birchett-Sharpe, Head of School for Service Industries says; “I think that we can all agree that the launch last night was a great success. It’s certainly the first time we’ve had alumni, current learners, employers and suppliers all at one event!”
She adds: “The room was filled with conversation, anecdotes and memories of student life here, but also how we are continuing to invest and improve our provision for the new generations. Our current learners spoke to many employers during the evening, with many securing placements for future work experience.”
Eddie and Alison Renda from Mood/Monster products said: “Thank you for inviting us both to the launch of Elements last night. It was a pleasure to meet you and be introduced to all the team and to meet and talk to students and returning students. It was lovely to see students return to the College as employers and that continuing relationship between you and them and the mutual respect is quite unique and a credit to you and your team.”
Nicola and Vanessa from Flame Urban Spa said: “We have worked with Preston College for many years and to be invited to events such as this is brilliant, especially as we are able to meet budding hair and beauty learners and to see behind the scenes is fantastic. It really has been wonderful to see that there is a still a huge appetite for this industry.”
Neil Capstick, CEO of Neil and Wolfe added: “It was excellent to support the event and I was personally blown away by the quality of the college, it’s such a fantastic place to learn.”
Special thanks to go to Neil and Wolfe, NSI, Ellisons, Dennis Williams, Silhouette, Eve Taylor and Eddie at JGR UK for supplying a full range of goodies for our gift bags and raffle prizes. And to our very own Tourism and Events learners who helped support the event on the night.
