Business Admin Apprentice Turns Advisor

Ellyce Morris - former Business Administration apprenticeAs we head towards the end of National Apprenticeship Week, we take look at our very own member of staff Ellyce Morris who has progressed onto a full-time role at Preston’s College after completing her apprenticeship programme.

Ellyce, who impressed on her Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, passed the qualification with flying colours and now works as a Adult Admissions Officer in the College’s Enrolment Centre.

Ellyce started at Salford University studying nursing but quickly realised that environment wasn’t for her and decided to look for a more office-based role. During her Apprenticeship she covered maternity leave in the Enrolment Centre and felt she’d found her calling.

Talking about how an apprenticeship equipped her with the skills for the new role, Ellyce, said: “I love working at Preston’s College. I enjoy the fast-pace and there is never a dull day. The staff are really lovely and very supportive so when a permanent position came up within the team, I knew I definitely wanted to apply.

“The Apprenticeship was very beneficial to my current role, especially the communications skills I learned and event organisation. I could tailor my studies with optional modules and I’m glad I chose the focus I did. We organise lots of opportunities for school leavers and adult learners to find out about the range of options available and I support the teams with admin for these events.

“I’d recommend an Apprenticeship to anyone, I thought University was my dream but I could learn new skills, earn my own money and now have a permanent job so it was definitely the right path for me.”
