This course is ideal for those looking to learn baking skills. The course aims to equip you with the skills to bake and decorate a range of cakes through our hands-on syllabus.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

On this baking course, you will learn how to bake and decorate the following types of cake:

  • Traditional Victoria sponge cake with homemade jam
  • Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting
  • Rich chocolate fudge cake
  • Coffee and walnut cake
  • Light chocolate cake with white chocolate buttercream
  • Red velvet cake with mascarpone frosting
  • Lemon drizzle cake
  • Coconut and pineapple cake
  • Rainbow cake

 

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will follow the experienced tutor through a series of demonstrations on how to prepare, bake and decorate a number of different cakes. Culminating in a finished cake you can take home and enjoy each week. 

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

There are no exams as part of this course, as your progress will be monitored throughout the course by our experienced tutor who will offer advice on how to improve and develop.

HOW MUCH WILL THIS COURSE COST?

The cost is £40 per level.

Preston College and your class tutor will let you know what ingredients, plus any additional equipment you will need to bring to class each week.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

You can enrol on to one, two or all three levels of the cake baking courses. We also run cake decorating courses.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

Your tutor will let you know what ingredients and equipment you will need to bring to your class each week.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, just a keen interest in baking.
