The Health and Social Care Level 1 Certificate is a unique course, offering the opportunity to study a range of qualifications, all with various start dates throughout the year.

With enrolment opportunities in September, January and April, you can choose to study at the time of year when the qualifications on offer best suit your career goals and aspirations.

The course is ideal for those looking for an introduction to work in the sector, keen to progress onto higher levels of study to improve employment prospects.

September start:

  • Personal Health and Wellbeing Level 1 Award
  • Personal and Social Development Level 1 Certificate
  • Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care Level 1 Award
  • Substance Misuse Level 1 Certificate
  • Wellbeing Level 1 Certificate

January start:

  • Health and Social Care Level 1 Introductory Award
  • Personal Health and Wellbeing Level 1 Award
  • Personal and Social Development Level 1 Certificate
  • Substance Misuse Level 1 Certificate

April start:

  • Health and Social Care Level 1 Certificate

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be taught through a blended learning model. This means some classes will be conducted in person while others will take place through on-line and home learning methods.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

A range of assessment methods will be employed for the duration of your time on the course. These vary from module to module but may include written information, scenarios and case studies, set tasks and verbal questions.

To successfully achieve the health and wellbeing element of the course (if applicable), you will be required to complete and submit an evidence portfolio of work.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

Upon successful completion of this qualification you will have obtained the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress on to a higher level qualification in the same or similar occupational area, or into employment. Many learners choose to progress onto the Level 2 Health and Social Care course at Preston College.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To join us on the Level 1 Health and Social Care programme, you do not need any formal qualifications, just a desire to learn more about this subject.

Many of our learners study Maths and English alongside the Level 1 course, if they do not already hold these qualifications.
