COUNSELLING CONCEPTS - LEVEL 2 AWARD

Duration: 10 Weeks
Level: Level 2

This Level 2 Award will benefit anyone who is involved in helping others, for example social workers, teachers, nurses and volunteers.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The course is accredited by the awarding body Skills and Education Group Awards and will provide you with the opportunity to try out a number of basic counselling skills. The course offers a basic appreciation of three counselling approaches and offers an insight as to how counselling skills may be used safely. You also have the opportunity to develop self-awareness and to demonstrate your own personal development. Personal development work can be emotionally demanding and therefore there is a need for each person to take care of themselves and to share what they are willing to share and not to disclose what they would prefer to keep private.

Units of study include:

  • Basic counselling theory
  • Using counselling skills
  • Personal development

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be supported by an experienced tutor throughout your course.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You are required to complete one piece of written work for external assessment. There is also a formal assessment by observation of your use of counselling skills.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

You can apply for the Level 3 in Counselling Skills.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
