The Level 1 in Caring for Children covers children's growth, learning and development and will help you develop an understanding of the knowledge and the skills needed to care for young children. It is an ideal introduction for those considering a career in caring for children.
We have fabulous learning spaces for all our childcare programmes. These include a dedicated arts and crafts room where you will be able to develop practical skills that will help you understand how children learn through play and a great outdoor space, dedicated to creating play areas for young children.
If you wish to continue pursing a career in childcare, we would recommend the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner course. Progression to this course depends on you meeting the entry criteria and on your GCSE results in maths and English at the end of the Level 1 course. If you are not quite ready to progress to Level 2, we have a range of other Level 1 programmes in Health & Social Care.
The School of Service Industries offers a wide and varied enrichment programme, including:
You will need a profile of mainly grade 2s at GCSE including English Language and maths. You will also need to attend an interview to show interest in the subject and a willingness to learn.
