On this course you will;

Day 1 - Introduction to Retrofit
What retrofit is and why it matters
Net zero, energy efficiency and housing stock
Introduction to retrofit principles and terminology
Health, safety and working responsibly in occupied buildings
Day 2 - Building Fabric & Energy Efficiency
Heat loss and thermal performance
Insulation types and basic installation principles
Windows, doors and airtightness
Common retrofit measures and their purpose
Day 3 - Retrofit in Practice
Whole-house approach (entry-level overview)
Practical demonstrations and observations
Identifying improvements and risks
Team activities applying learning to real-world scenarios
Day 4 - Working in Retrofit & Next Steps
Roles within the retrofit sector
Communication, teamwork and site behaviour
Review of learning and practical observations

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
This course will be delivered over four days, and will include a blended approach consisting of:
Tutor-led presentations
Practical demonstrations and observations
Group and team-based activities
Structured discussion and reflection
Students will be supported with handouts to reinforce learning, alongside guided activities embedded throughout the sessions.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
On successful completion of this course, students will receive a Preston College certificate to confirm attendance and participation in the retrofit course.
