2 years part-time
This qualification allows you to teach post 14 learners in Further Education (FE) and Skills Sector. If you are already teaching in the education sector, this part-time course will support your CPD to become a fully-qualified teacher.
This course is provided in partnership with the University of Derby, an Ofsted rated Outstanding provider of FE and Skills teacher training.
You will learn theories and principles of educational practice, developing your understanding and techniques for enhancing teaching, learning and assessment and explore approaches to evidence based practice. In the second year, you will explore curriculum planning within the FE sector and optional modules relating to behaviour, or specialising in teaching literacy, maths or teaching learners with disabilities.
Practical workshops, specialist speakers and classroom activities go hand-in-hand with teaching practice. Observational feedback will focus on strengths and supportive improvement.
Modules are assessed through formative and summative assessment points, which includes coursework, assignments, teaching practice file, successful observations and reflections.
A PGCE/Cert Ed is a recognised passport into teaching in the sector.
