£1.4 Million Digital Suites Unveiled at Preston College

Preston College proudly announces the completion of its transformative £1.4 million Digital Suite. This advanced facility will be instrumental in developing the next generation of digital and creative experts.

The renovation has turned the former media, music, and recording spaces into cutting-edge digital suites, creative design studios, and a specialised gaming room. This new environment will support our T Level courses across a range of digital and creative disciplines, including media production, games design, digital production, accounting, and digital design and development.

Simon Nixon Principal and Chief Executive says, We are thrilled to have completed the refurbishment of the digital suites and be able to open the doors to this new facility. This represents a significant investment in the future of our students, and will not only support our current programmes but will also pave the way for innovative new courses and opportunities.”

Construction on the remodelled building began at the start of the summer break and has now been completed. FWP, a leading architecture and design firm in Preston, managed the project, and the result is a modern, accessible facility designed to develop creativity and collaboration.

Mike Turner, Associate at FWP, commented, “The transformation is a pivotal development for the College and its digital and creative students.

“Our brief was to deliver modern, flexible learning spaces and collaborative workstations and to provide an immersive and interactive learning experience where students are able to thrive.

“The new facility will be the home for the College’s existing digital courses and, with its digital suites sitting alongside design and creative studios, it will also allow the College to further develop new exciting courses in this growing field of opportunity.

“We have worked closely with the College’s digital department staff on the design and the result is very exciting. We’re also proud to be playing our part in helping create opportunities for young people in our home city.”

This is the second major refurbishment in recent years at Preston College involving FWP. In 2021, FWP also redesigned part of the College’s construction facility, adding a modern exterior and a new mezzanine level for T Level courses. The latest project was executed by Longridge-based construction firm Carefoot, which also contributed to the previous refurbishment.

Andrew Cross, Managing Director at Carefoot, said, “We are proud to be part of this groundbreaking project. The transformation of the old studios into cutting edge digital suites is testament to our commitment to delivering high-quality educational spaces.”

Simon Nixon adds, “We are particularly grateful to all our partners for their dedication and expertise in bringing this project to life. The new Digital facility is more than just a physical space; it’s an investment in our students’ future, ensuring they have access to the best tools and environments to succeed in their careers.”
