This Level 1 Award is ideal for individuals looking to progress within the fabrication and welding sector, who require formal qualifications to reflect current experience across any of the welding processes, or for those starting out in the industry looking to undertake additional responsibilities within the workplace.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
On this course you will study the following unit:
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
To successfully pass the course, five practical assignments, consisting of welding joints in simple positions (horizontal) and one oral knowledge test must be passed, with successful completion evidencing an individual’s competence in their chosen welding method.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
You can progress to another welding process at Level 1 (MMA or MIG). Successful completion of the Level 1 modules enables individuals to progress onto the more advanced Level 2 Award in Welding at Preston College.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
Completion of this module provides opportunities to progress onto another welding process at Level 1 (MIG or MMA).
All learners studying on a Level 1 Award in Welding are required to wear appropriate PPE at all times, including steel toe cap boots and flame retardant overalls. Costs will vary but both of these items will need to be purchased and brought to your first class.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal entry requirements for this level of study.
