This Apprenticeship is ideal for those wishing to specialise in motorcycle repair and maintenance. You will study both theory and practical aspects covering the mechanical and electrical systems on motorcycles. You will also learn how these different systems work and operate together to ensure the highest performance from the bikes.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Engine Mechanical Systems including lubrication and cooling systems, fuel, exhaust and ignition systems, Electrical Systems including lighting and ancillary systems, Chassis Systems including braking systems, steering and suspension systems, wheels and tyres and Transmission Systems including clutch and final drive.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be assessed through practical observations both in the workplace and at College. You will also complete online tests and be expected to submit job card evidence from your employer.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
After Level 2 you may be able to progress onto the Level 3 full-time College course. After Level 3 you will be ready to become a motorcycle diagnostic technician and work at an independent garage, a large manufacturer or even start your own business.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
You will be required to complete assignment work and study outside of college. There will be continuing support outside of the classroom environment through MyCourse and e-learning software. For workshop activities you will need to purchase suitable overalls and work boots. For your projects you will need pens and paper.
All Apprenticeships require an initial assessment, interview and employment in the industry.
