Our GCSE Combined Science qualification covers chemistry, physics and biology. This course is ideal for those looking to go into a range of allied health professions such as nursing, dental and pharmaceuticals which require the skills and knowledge across all sciences. It is also a required qualification if you wish to go into teaching or health and social care. Not only is this course ideal for school leavers, but for adults who wish to change or advance their career.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will learn core units of study across chemistry, physics and biology, including:

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
You will be taught by industry experienced tutors in our state-of-the-art iSTEM Centre laboratories with opportunities to undertake practical tasks to supplement your theory work. This will ensure you progress both academically and practically.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Your assessment will be both practical and written based. The practical tasks, which are carried out in our laboratories, will ensure you are able to put your knowledge into practice (worth 15% of overall examination grade). You will also undertake 2 exams in each core subject i.e. chemistry, physics and biology.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
On completion of the course, there are options you can take depending on the requirements of your desired career, including:
Apply for our Level 3 BTEC Applied Science course (16 - 18 year olds).
Study our Access to HE: Science course (Adults).
Apprenticeship within a relevant industry.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
You will need to purchase the required textbook which covers all units of study, this is priced at around £30. You will also need a scientific calculator approx. £10.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, having a good level of maths and English will be beneficial in order to fully understand the course content.
