Level 3 Extended Project Qualification - Artificial Intelligence (AI) pathway

Course Overview

The Extended Project Qualification in AI is a project based programme where students to study an area of AI that interests them. Students will be supported to explore, apply and critically evaluate AI tools and the outputs that they generate. Students will need to consider the impact of AI and advancing technology on their potential future work, education and everyday life.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Projects are agreed between the tutor and the student, and there are many different areas that could be the project focus. Potential areas could include: 

  • Explore Genrative AI tools such as ChatGPT, SoundRaw and Podcastle to generate content, and critically evaluate their use. 
  • Understand AI tools and build useful digital skills to prepare for the future as AI rapidly transforms the world around us.
  • Critique the value of AI in creative fields including areas such as playwriting and play performance, song and music composition, and screenplay for film or moving media.
  • Dive deep into questions surrounding the use of AI and the value of its generated content, by creating an essay, performance or artefact as part of your investigations, alongside your other studies
  • Develop critical thinking skills to explore responsible use of AI, considering issues such as ethics, copyright, empathy, source bias and wider societal issue.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You’ll be taught in our recently opened digital suite, equipped with the latest technology and specialist software used across the computing, cyber, and IT industries. These modern facilities are designed to give you hands‑on experience and help you build the practical skills that employers and universities look for. Throughout the course, you’ll benefit from the experience of industry professionals through guest speaker visits, workshops, and project guidance.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

This Level 3 qualification is accredited by Pearsons and is worth up to 28 UCAS points. UCAS points from this qualification alongside other qualifcations in the digital package can be used to gain entry to university degree programmes.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

This course can only be studied as part of a combined studies package. It will run subject to sufficient student numbers and availability of government funding.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need five grade 4s including English and maths. This course can only be studied as part of a combined studies package.
