Course Overview

Organisations across the globe are investing and developing systems to protect themselves from the ever-growing threat of cyber attacks. This provides many opportunities for young people to build successful careers in cyber security. On this course you will develop your skills and knowledge in a range of topics including cyber security, ethics, cybercrime, risk management, digital forensics and security.

Students study eight core modules and choose one final optional modules or two innovation modules.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You’ll be taught in our recently opened digital suite, equipped with the latest technology and specialist software used across the computing, cyber, and IT industries. These modern facilities are designed to give you hands‑on experience and help you build the practical skills that employers and universities look for. Throughout the course, you’ll benefit from the experience of industry professionals through guest speaker visits, workshops, and project guidance.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

This Level 3 qualification is accredited by City and Guilds and is worth up to 28 UCAS points. UCAS points from this qualification alongside other qualifcations in the digital package can be used to gain entry to university degree programmes.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

This course can only be studied as part of a combined studies package. It will run subject to sufficient student numbers and availability of government funding.

This qualification has been developed by a consortium of education and cyber security partners for people considering starting a career in cyber security and it is aligned with the Chartered Institute of Information Security (CIISec) and the Cyber Security Body of Knowledge (CyBOK) Skills and Knowledge Framework.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need five grade 4s including English and maths. This course can only be studied as part of a combined studies package.
