ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION - LEVEL 2

Level: Level 2

This qualification is designed to prepare you for a career as an electrician. You will develop your technical knowledge and skills in preparation for a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Electrical Installation on completion of the Apprenticeship you will be recognised by the industry as a competent installation or maintenance electrician. As part of this Level 2 qualification you will complete an employer set project which will help you develop your skills in a real workplace environment.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be taught in the Construction Centre with practical areas for a range of electrical installation activities. You will also be taught the underpinning knowledge in the classroom.

  • Online exam
  • Practical synoptic test
  • Employer set project

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

On successful completion of Level 2 you can seek employment as an Apprentice to complete your training. At Preston College a lot of our learners are recruited by employers from our Level 2 course into an Apprenticeship. The Level 3 Electrical Installations Apprenticeship is an ideal next step.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

There are opportunities to demonstrate your skills and abilities through SkillBuild and other related competitions. You'll need your own stationery and personal protective equipment including safety boots and work clothing. All other tools and equipment are provided.

Additional Opportunities

Students with a grade 4 in English and maths will also study an employability skills qualification and a electrical industry trade skills course.

Student with a grade 4 in English or maths will study additional units in employability without gaining the full employability qualification and a electrical industry trade skills course.

Students without a grade 4 in English or maths will study both subjects as part of their Study Programme.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need four GCSEs at grade 4 or above and English Language and maths at grade 4. You will also be required to attend an interview to discuss your suitability for the course.
