T-LEVEL IN ACCOUNTING

Duration: 2 years
Level: Level 3
Last Updated: 03-10-23

T-Levels are innovative new courses which combine technical learning, practical work and a minimum 45 days (315 hours) industry placement with a local employer to ensure you have relevant and real experience in the workplace. This new qualification has been developed with employers within the industry to ensure you learn the skills, behaviours and knowledge that will make you the most employable, now and in the future.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Students will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

  • fundamentals of financial accounting – an understanding of elementary financial principles, concepts and practices and how this content links to relevant accounting, bookkeeping, and business mathematics requirements
  • professionalism and ethics - an understanding of professional conduct and responsibilities in the workplace and ethical dilemmas for the individual, organisation and professional
  • data driven innovation and analytics and design thinking – an awareness of key requirements of a data governance framework and understand the main contemporary visualisation tools and when they are best used to support decision-making

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

80% of your studies will be within the College, where you will build theoretical knowledge and develop your practical skills.

20% of the qualification will involve a 45 day (315 hours) industry placement with a local employer. During this time you will gain real work experience within the industry, placing you in a great position to progress into employment once you complete your T-Level qualification.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will complete formal assessments and examinations.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

T-Levels are equivalent to three A-Levels. Gaining a T-Level can help you with progression onto higher study, Apprenticeships or into skilled employment. Your T-Level will also be worth UCAS points. A T-Level at grade Distinction* is worth the same as three A-Levels at A* and will be recognised by universities and other providers, meaning you have the option to continue your studies after college.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in accounting. Career options might include:

  • Finance Officer
  • Payroll Manager
  • Accounting Technician
  • Payroll Administrator

After further study at university other careers could be pursued in the accounting profession.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Learners require six GCSE passes at grades 9-4 and should have a strong passion for the T-Level subject. At least three of the passes should be at grade 5 or above, including maths and English Language*. A successful interview is also required. *Individual cases will be considered at the point of entry where the criteria has not been met.
