This Level 4 qualification is aimed at NVQ/QCF assessors who would like to become internal quality assurers. An internal quality assurer is the person who supports and works with a team of assessors to develop assessment procedures and facilitate good practice.

What will I learn?

Unit 401 – Understanding the Principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment and Unit 402 – Internally assure the quality of assessment.

On completion of this course, candidates will be able to: Explain the process of registration through to the completion of an NVQ and the role of the internal quality assurer, Set up and maintain procedures to meet Awarding Body requirements, Verify QCF Assessments and Build a portfolio of evidence which meets IQA national standards.

How will I be taught?

You will have ongoing tutorial support from one of our experienced tutors/assessors.

Each element of the programme looks at different aspects of the IQA role: Carry out and evaluate internal assessment and quality assurance systems, Support assessors, Monitor the quality of assessors performance and Meet external quality assurance requirements.

How will I be assessed?

The IQA is assessed as an NVQ/QCF qualification. Candidates will produce an e- portfolio of evidence. Observation of the candidates carrying out IQA is mandatory. Assessment methods include professional discussion, written records, questioning and witness testimony. Other methods may also be used to gather required evidence.

What can I do next?

You can top this qualification up by completing unit 403 – Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility for a further £250 to achieve the Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.

Is there anything else I need to know?

The IQA qualification is suitable for people who are responsible for developing and managing assessment and verification strategies within an organisation. Candidates must have experience in NVQ/QCF Assessment and have access to two assessors with at least two candidates.
