Circuit training has continued to be one of most popular forms of group exercise for men, women and children. It allows a variety of fitness abilities to train together, and in a multitude of different formats. Circuit classes can be delivered in practically any environment (health clubs and sports centres as well as outdoors), and the versatility means that you can use these skills with large groups or in one-to-one situations.

What will I learn?

Planning Circuit Training Session: How to plan a safe and effective circuit training session. You will produce a plan that shows effective planning; to include a variety of balanced exercises showing progression and adaptation of exercises so as to offer the most effective workout for your clients.

Instruct a Circuit Training Session: You will instruct a circuit training session for a group of exercisers. You will learn to accurately demonstrate a variety of exercises including the use of various equipment (free weights, steps, resistance bands, stability balls), as well as various standing and lying stretches. You will apply excellent teaching skills and demonstrate accurate personal exercise technique that will ensure effective client performance.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught by experienced and supportive tutors from our FIT Education team.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by planning a circuit training session (including a circuit overview and session plans), a practical session instructing circuit training and an evaluation of your session.

What can I do next?

This qualification allows you to teach group fitness classes. Other courses available include: Certificate in Fitness Instructing – Gym Based Exercise, Certificate in Fitness Instructing – Exercise to Music (Aerobics Instructor), Certificate in Fitness Instructing – Exercise and Physical Activity for Children (aged 5 – 15), Award in Group Indoor Cycling, Certificate/Diploma in Personal Training or a Diploma in Exercise Referral.

Is there anything else I need to know?

You will gain 16 REPS CPD points. This course is delivered by the FIT Education team at Preston’s College. This team have over 45 years combined experience working in the industry. 

Entry Requirements

You must hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing qualification in; Gym, ETM and /or Children’s Fitness, have a high level of fitness, experience of circuit training sessions and be passionate about fitness. You must also attend an interview.
