Hiring an Apprentice

Since April 1, 2024 any new 16-21 year-old  apprentice start will have their apprenticeship training costs fully funded (up to the funding band maximum) where they work for an employer who does not pay the apprenticeship  levy. 

Your Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account has now been updated to manage this change automatically for you.

Employers that do not pay the levy can also benefit from fully funded apprenticeship training costs (up to the funding band maximum) for apprentices aged between 22 and 24 years-old who have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan and / or have been in the care of their local authority.

Employers, regardless of being a levy payer or not, will still receive a £1,000 incentive for hiring a 16-18 year old.

CITB Funding Grants and Incentives

You can apply for £2,500 per year for attendance and £3,500 for achievement.
