We are recruiting a new Principal and Chief Executive
After successfully leading the College through a transformative three year strategic plan, our current Principal and Chief Executive, Simon Nixon, is retiring in August 2026. We are seeking applications for his successor who will work in partnership with the Board to ensure Preston College continues its vision of transforming lives through education.
Preston College is a large and diverse general further education college providing teaching, learning and skills development for both young people and adults in Central Lancashire and beyond. The College takes great pride in supporting its students to achieve the qualifications and outcomes they need, alongside the technical skills, knowledge and experience that employers and universities are looking for.
The College is on an upward trajectory, having been accredited as “Good” in our last Ofsted inspection in January 2023. Since then, we have made even more improvements and continue to push forward with enthusiasm. We feel well placed to meet the challenges of the new inspection framework, and this will be an exciting prospect for our new Principal and Chief Executive.
We benefit from an experienced leadership team and motivated staff at every level. Our student achievement rates continues to be above national averages and our finances are in great health. We are not elitist: all our students matter equally, whatever their background or abilities, and inclusion is key in every aspect of the College life.
