Preston College Celebrates Double Nomination Success for Team Hair and Beauty

Following the recent bursary awarded by the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) to the hair and beauty department at Preston College, we are pleased to announce the exciting news, that the team has been nominated not once, but twice, in the upcoming VTCT Excellence Awards, with Curriculum Leader/Tutor, Julie Richmond receiving a nomination in the Tutor/Educator of the Year Category, in addition to Preston College being nominated in the College of the Year Category.

The VTCT comments, “To be nominated for both of these awards is a huge achievement and on behalf of the entire VTCT staff and trustees, we offer our congratulations to Preston College.”

Fiona Birtchet-Sharpe, Head of School said, “We are over the moon to have been nominated for both of these awards from VTCT, and to receive their continued recognition of our dedication and commitment to all our learners. To have received these nominations is a real honour not only to Julie, our fantastic tutor, myself as Head of School but to the whole of Preston College and we are so excited to find out if we will progress onto the next stage of the award process. We are so proud to have received these nominations, which further highlights the quality of the provision we offer to our current learners and those thinking about joining us a Preston College to pursue a career in hair and beauty.”

The next stage of the awards process will be a shortlist decided by a prestigious panel of judges led by the former Education Minister Rt Hon Anne Milton and we are waiting to hear if we will be progressing on to the next stage.

The inaugural VTCT Excellence Awards ceremony, taking place on 13th July 2023, will celebrate the VTCT’s 60th anniversary, and will highlight the very best of VTCT learners, educators and centres across the UK.

Congratulations again to the Hair and Beauty Team. We are keeping our fingers crossed and watch this space for an update soon!
