Preston College Celebrates Strong Industry Partnerships at Green Skills Summit 2026

On Friday 6 March, Preston College proudly welcomed leading employers, industry bodies and partners from across Lancashire for its second Green Skills Summit held at Brockholes Nature Reserve – a collaborative event focused on shaping the future of sustainability skills across the region.

The summit celebrated the strong partnerships the college has built with industry and showcased how education and employers are working together to equip the next generation with the green skills needed for a rapidly evolving economy.

Throughout the day, attendees explored how green technologies, sustainable construction methods and environmental innovation are transforming sectors across the region. The event provided a valuable opportunity for employers and educators to share expertise, discuss future workforce needs and strengthen the connections that support high-quality technical education.

We were delighted to welcome expert speakers and contributors from a range of valued partners, including:

  • ETA
  • CITB
  • Crush & Go
  • Joseph Parr Group
  • CHIL
  • United Utilities
  • Alisco
  • ProPerla
  • Thompsons Solar
  • Eric Wright Construction

Each organisation shared valuable insights from their sector, highlighting the vast opportunities emerging within the green economy and the vital role collaboration between education and industry plays in preparing the workforce of the future. As one of the founding members of the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology (IoT), Preston College plays a key role in delivering higher technical education aligned to industry need, helping to ensure learners develop the skills required to support the region’s transition to a more sustainable future.

Zac Wilkinson, Assistant Director of Construction and the Built Environment says:

‘What stood out most wasn’t just the presentations – it was the quality of discussion. Employers challenging ideas, education providers sharing delivery models, and local authorities discussing the role of policy and investment.’

The event concluded with a networking session, giving attendees the chance to connect, share ideas, and explore new collaborations that will help drive Lancashire’s green skills agenda forward.

We would like to thank all speakers, partners, and attendees for contributing to a highly successful and inspiring event, and your continued support. Planning is already underway for next year’s summit.
