Healthcare staff play a vital role in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a huge number of medical conditions. They also help people live independent lives through rehabilitation.

Biomedical Scientist

Biomedical scientists carry out a range of laboratory and scientific tests to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Average salaries are around ÂŁ42, 203 but with experience earnings can exceed ÂŁ50,000.

Life Sciences

Roles in life sciences can be broadly categorised into three areas: genetics, reproductive science and pathology. You may find careers in these areas supporting couples with IVF or supporting healthcare professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Microbiologist

Microbiologists study microbes to understand how they affect our lives and how we can exploit them. This areas of science can be used to solve a range of problems affecting health, the environment, climate and agriculture.

Audiologist

Audiologists work with children and adults who suffer from hearing loss, tinnitus, or have problems with balance. Starting salaries are around ÂŁ25,000, increasing to around ÂŁ44,000 with experience.
