Apprenticeships are becoming a popular alternative to traditional university study for young people across Lancashire.
After leaving college, an apprenticeship can provide the unique opportunity to gain a wealth of on-the-job experience that otherwise wouldn’t be gained in the classroom, as well as a salary and industry recognised qualifications to match.
That said, there is still a common misconception that learners who do not get the grades to get into their chosen university have an apprenticeship to fall back on. This isn’t the case. Employers are on the lookout for young people with a good aptitude for learning as well as sought after behaviours including attitude, ambition and a desire to succeed.
It’s the £100,000 question. Would you rather gain up to £50,000 debt going to University over the duration of a degree programme, when you could be gaining up to £50,000 and still gaining the qualification necessary for your future employment?
