PRESTON COLLEGE ESOL LEARNERS CELEBRATE NOWRUZ!

Nowruz is celebrated primarily by Kurdish, Persian and Afghan people to celebrate the start of spring and is the largest cultural celebration in the year.

Our ESOL community at Preston College has many Kurdish, Persian and Afghan learners who live here alone and without their families. To make our learners feel ‘at home’ during this special celebration, the ESOL team acknowledged this special day with a Nowruz picnic.

Both learners and staff enjoyed a lunchtime sharing traditional food, traditional dancing and took many photographs to send back to their loved ones to show they were celebrating this special day, despite being many miles from home.

ESOL Party – Happy Norwuz

Please watch this short video, filmed and produced by Ganesh, a Deaf learner and currently on work experience as a Digital Coordinator at Preston College. The video introduces some of our Deaf learners at the College as well as well wishes from our staff.

A sing-a-long led by our Performing Arts learners in Reception to get us all in the festive spirit.

Our ESOL teaching team speak a wide range of second and often third languages! Here is a little flavour from just some of our highly talented and skilled staff.
