This Level 2 qualification provides you with the knowledge and skills needed to work in an accounting environment, and is the ideal qualification for anyone wanting to work as an Accounting Technician. The requirements of this course are based on nationally agreed standards of competence. The programme is designed to provide the maximum flexibility to suit people from a wide range of circumstances and with diverse backgrounds. This course is ideally suited for those who already have a basic knowledge of the accounting environment, either through previous study or through practical experience.

Elements of Costing
Working Effectively in Finance
Using Accounting Software
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
This course is taught wholly via distance learning methods, requiring commitment and focus but offering much more flexible ways of working.
Studying via distance learning requires you to purchase the relevant AAT textbooks and work your way through to the exam. This method requires responsibility for your own motivation and an ability to meet set deadlines, as the programme is wholly individual, rather than tutor, lead.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be assessed via computer based assessments.
You must achieve a pass in each module to secure the overall qualification.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
The Level 2 Certificate provides a platform to progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting: this is subject to the agreement of your tutor and an interview (where necessary). The Level 3 Diploma in Accounting is also available to study via distancing learning methods.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
You will be required to purchase textbooks and workbooks for this course. You will also have to register as a student member of the AAT and pay the relevant registration and membership fees.
All candidates who apply will be interviewed by a member of the AAT team to assess their suitability for entry onto the programme. Maths and English GCSE Grade D or equivalent (Functional Skills Level 1) is essential.
