This programme aims to develop your knowledge of light vehicle maintenance, including the diagnosis of non-complex system faults. You will be equipped with the essential skills to enable you to carry out various procedures, services and checks, taking a practical approach to your learning throughout the course.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
You will study similar topics covered at Level 1, but with more of a focus on practically executing the knowledge and skills you have learnt. This includes:
Carrying out routine vehicle maintenance
Removing and replacing engine components
Electrical auxiliary units and components
Chassis and transmission units and components
Health and safety in the workplace and further skills associated with the automotive environment will be implemented throughout the duration of the course.
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
You will be taught by industry experienced tutors who will teach you the knowledge and understandings of light vehicle maintenance through demonstrations. You will have the opportunity to put your theory into practice at Level 2 with the support of your tutors.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be assessed through practical tasks supported by written up assignments and online multiple choice tests. 70% of the course is assessed by your practical abilities, where you will be required to demonstrate your knowledge and skills. 30% of the course you will be required to produce written assignments and undertake online tests which will coincide with your practical work.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
On successful completion of the course to a high standard, you can progress on to our Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance, where you will be able to take a hands-on approach to your learning and give you a practical, in-depth experience of the industry. You will be able to enhance your skills with a focus on your practical development to increase your employability in the automotive industry.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
You will be required to wear safety boots and appropriate overalls for the duration of the programme for health and safety reasons. If you wish to progress on to our Level 3 course on completion of your Level 2, you will be required to study maths and/or English alongside your course if you have not achieved at least a grade 4 in either subjects.
Successful completion of Level 1 Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
