This qualification aims to develop your knowledge and awareness of dementia and is ideal if you are working in a social care setting. The course also provides useful learning for anyone keen to learn more about the subject, or are keen to develop your skills and knowledge further, before entering the health and social care sector.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
As part of this course you will study a range of engaging and informative modules, including:
The person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
Understanding the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
Understanding equality, diversity, and inclusion in dementia care
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
Teaching will take place in the classroom here at Preston College.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
All modules will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or set tasks.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
The modules of this Level 2 Award are embedded in the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. Therefore, you could progress directly onto the Level 2 Diploma, which in turn may allow you to progress onto a Level 2 Health and Social Care Apprenticeship.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
You should have a genuine interest in learning more about this subject. This can be from a personal perspective or as an employee in a relevant field seeking CPD opportunities.
You must be able to evidence that you can work at Level 1 or above in English.
