MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE

Duration: 8 weeks (evening)
Level: Entry Level
Last Updated: 16-09-20

This short course is ideal for those looking to gain a greater understanding of basic motorcycle maintenance for their own use.

Perfect for those with a passion for bikes, the course will allow you to develop the skills needed to look after your own motorcycle and be confident in the checks you undertake.

The course can be developed and tailored to suit individual interests, meaning you are welcome to bring your own bike to learn more about specific maintenance needs. If, however, any parts are required to improve the maintenance of the bike in this instance, you will be required to purchase those.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

You will study a range of modules as part of this course including but not limited to:

  • Wheels and tyres - condition, tread depth and security
  • Chain and chain driven driveline - condition and service/maintenance
  • Basic servicing - checking oil levels and oil changes (where applicable)
  • Basic electrical maintenance - checking lamps, warning systems and bulb changes, alongside the identification and selection of correct types

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

This is a practical course that will be taught in the purpose built workshops within the multi-million pound i-STEM Centre.
