The term 'administration' covers roles that involve organising people and resources, including executive assistants, secretaries, administration assistants, data entry clerks and office juniors. As a business and administration apprentice, your exact duties will depend on your employer. It is likely that you will be working with a team or member of staff to handle various tasks. You may be typing up documents, putting financial information together in spreadsheets, assisting on projects or events, dealing with enquiries and photocopying confidential documents. This sort of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail. One of the great things about business and administration is that you can work almost anywhere. Administration roles are an excellent starting point to move into management once you have more experience.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The course will allow you to build a foundation of skills which are needed to be successful in administration roles, with guidance and on the job training. You will work through a variety of modules for you to gain the experience and skills needed to succeed as an administrator including: Personal performance in the business environment, Job roles and responsibilities, Communication, Process for storing and retrieving information, Planning and organising meetings, Using office equipment.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be assessed via a mixture of course work, online exams, oral questioning and an ePortfolio of evidence.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
Successful completion of Level 2 allows progression to the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration. After completing Level 3 you can progress into a range of careers from administration, human resources, marketing, finance, sales and customer service roles.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
Duration: 12 months
All Apprenticeships require an initial assessment, interview and employment in the industry. Level 2 applicants are required to hold a GCSE Grade E or grade 2 or above in Maths, English and ICT (or equivalent) or be prepared to work towards Maths, English and ICT Level 1 Functional Skills.
