Human Resources can be a complex and challenging job role and for those who work in this environment they relish in the challenges that this career can often bring. A career in Human Resources can provide the perfect opportunity to work with others and help promote growth and development within the workplace. As a HR Support apprentice you will be required day to day queries and provide human resources advice, ranging from recruitment through to retirement.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

As a HR apprentice you will learn the fundamentals of the HR support role whilst you work as part of a HR team. You will typically handle day to day queries, provide HR advice and work on a range of HR processes. This could range from formal transactional problems to relatively complex issues, including recruitment, retirement and using HR systems to keep records. You will provide relevant HR information to the business and work with the business on HR changes. You will be typically tasked to take ownership for providing advice to managers on a wide range of HR issues using company policy and current law, giving guidance that is compliant and where errors could expose the organisation to employment tribunals or legal risk. In a larger organisation you may also have responsibility for managing a small team – this aspect is outside the scope of this apprenticeship and will need to be covered separately by the employer.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be fully supported throughout your learning experience.  Assessments comprise of a mixture of course work, a written exam, workplace assessments and reviews.  The end point assessment (EPA) will be carried out by an independent assessment organisation and consists of a presentation and professional discussion supported by an e-portfolio of evidence.

Apprentices are also required to achieve level 2 qualifications in English and Maths prior to completion of the apprenticeship, or to hold GCSEs in these subjects on entry to the course.
