Preparing you for a career in the aerospace industry this HND, awarded by Pearson, provides natural progression from your HNC Aeronautical Engineering.
The course covers the fundamental aspects of mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering and propulsion technology, as well as specialist aerospace topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft control systems, avionics and aircraft structure.
You will be taught within our state-of the-art iSTEM Centre, which provides outstanding teaching facilities including a Piper Atzec light aircraft and subsonic wind tunnel. You will also have access to design suites, CAD/CAM software and a 3D printing lab.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
The course is delivered via a combination of lectures, practical sessions and seminars. Currently we are operating a blended learning model, with some modules taught via online learning methods and other modules delivered remotely.
You will also have access to our virtual learning environment for additional resources, to support your studies.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be assessed throughout your programme to support your development. These assessments will be both formative and summative in nature. Formative assessments will comprise of class activities and practical tasks on site, whilst summative assessment will be made up of a range of assignments throughout your programme of study.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
The HND Aeronautical Engineering has been developed in partnership with leading aerospace employers and provides opportunities to work on industry projects, ensuring you develop the right skills for higher level employment. The qualification is recognised nationally as a standalone qualification, with successful completion providing progression opportunities into a range of roles that often include Mechanical Engineer, Aircraft Designer, Data Processing Manager or Military Aerospace Engineer. The HND also provides the opportunity to progress onto a BA (Hons) Top-Up degree at university; to progress onto a higher level programme, an additional application needs to be made.

Preston’s College operates a flexible admissions policy, welcoming applicants with a wide range of qualifications and/or experience, with each application assessed on its own merit. We also recognise prior learning/attainment (RPL) and experience, meaning it may be possible to map some of your existing qualifications against the modules for the HND Aeronautical Engineering qualification.
If this applies to you, we will discuss this with you at the interview stage.
For students who have recently been in education, we would expect an applicant to have one of the following:
Level 4 qualification:
A Level 4 qualification in a relevant subject, such as HNC Aeronautical Engineering, studied at Preston's College
Other qualification or requirements:
An NVQ diploma or equivalent competence based qualification.
Applicants with industrial experience will be considered on a case by case basis. ALL applicants must hold a HNC, studied and achieved at Preston's College
Applicants are required to hold a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in each skills area)
We usually consider an A-Level in General Studies as a supplementary qualification.
A good application will be taken into account if you do not meet the above criteria.
You may need to apply for a Tier 4 visa in order to enter and study in the UK. However, please note that Preston's College does not hold a Tier 4 Sponsor Licence to support student visa applications.
