Higher Education Learners (SEND)

Access / Pre-Access to HE

At Preston’s College we offer both Access and Pre-Access courses designed to progress you onto Higher Education.

Each year hundreds of adult learners attend Preston’s College to gain the skills and qualifications necessary to progress onto University level study. These advanced level courses are a popular route because they offer the equivalent of three A-Levels and are accepted by a wide range of universities. You’ll develop your academic skills and subject knowledge in preparation for university degree programmes.

If you aren’t quite ready for an Access course, we will offer a year-long programme to get you up to the advanced level study. Pre-access is perfect if you are returning to education and want to develop your academic skills and technical knowledge in preparation for further study. You will also study GCSE maths and/or English to ensure you have the right qualifications to gain entry to university degree programmes.

Fees & Funding

If you are looking to study a Pre-Access course, there is funding available to cover your college costs, please speak to an advisor about the funding options and the eligibility criteria. If you are looking to study an Access to HE Course, you will be eligible to take out a Level 3 Learning Loan to cover the cost of your course. If you then progress onto University to study a degree programme, your learning loan will be paid off by the Government.
