Sector Based Work Academy – Veg Box Company

Preston’s College are delighted to be working in partnership with The Veg Box Company, recruiting for Packing Assistant roles within a fast growing and busy organisation based in Ashton, Preston. You will be introduced to the role and responsibilities of a Packing Assistant, developing the key skills and attributes that will support your progression within the company.

To secure a guaranteed interview for the role, you must complete a two week course, delivered by Preston’s College. This course will cover a wide range of principles and will allow you, upon successful completion, to gain a Level 1 NOCN Certificate in Warehousing and Storage, a Level 2 qualification in Food Hygiene and a non-regulated qualification in Level 1 Customer Service.

Your two week timetable will follow this pattern:

Employability skills: CV updates and preparation for interview

As a Packing Assistant your duties will include:

  • Working to customer specification
  • Processing orders
  • Ensuring high standards of quality and control
  • Working at speed, employing high levels of accuracy
  • Working to food hygiene standards
  • Safe handling and storage of produce

The site is based on Raglan Street in Ashton (near Roebuck Primary School) and the company are looking for individuals who are available for an immediate start.

Full and part-time hours are available, with shift patterns including 7am-3pm and 8am-5pm Monday – Friday. Additional work on Saturdays and Sundays will be required at busy peaks to meet business demand.
