Preston College invites you to our Careers & Skills Expo, delivered in collaboration with the North West Construction Hub. Through their network of leading contractor partners, you’ll gain direct access to organisations that play a key role in strengthening construction supply chains across the region.
This event gives you the chance to network, build career-boosting connections and receive personalised 1-1 support through focused 15-minute skills sessions, covering CV writing and interview techniques. You can choose to attend one session or take part in both – simply select the sessions that best support your goals.

Session 1
Build a CV That Gets You Noticed! (15 min Session)
Make your first impression count with this hands-on CV session! You’ll sit down with a construction industry professional who knows exactly what employers are looking for and get real insight into what makes a CV stand out in the sector.
In this session, whether you already have a CV or are starting from scratch, industry experts will guide you on what to include and how to structure your CV. You’ll learn how to highlight your skills, qualifications and experience in a way that catches an employer’s attention, while also gaining practical advice on language, strengths and key employability terms. By the end, you’ll walk away with clear, actionable steps to turn your CV into a powerful tool for boosting your career prospects.
Session 2
Building Interview Confidence! (15 min Session)
Develop the skills you need to feel confident and interview ready. You’ll practice common construction interview questions, learn how to clearly present your skills and experience, and receive supportive, personalised feedback from an industry professional. You’ll leave with new strategies and tips to help you perform at your best and make a great impression.
In this practical interview skills session, you’ll become familiar with industry-style questions in a supportive, low-pressure environment, and learn effective strategies to communicate your skills, experience and ambitions clearly. With personalised feedback to help you reflect and improve, you’ll also develop stronger communication and presentation skills that employers value — leaving you better prepared and interview-ready.
