After overcoming challenges with addiction, Terry knew he wanted a fresh start and believed education could be part of that change. When he attended a Preston College Adult Open Event, one message stayed with him:
“No matter what life has thrown at you, your past doesn’t define your future.”
Those words gave Terry the confidence and reassurance he needed and he’s not looked back since.
Since joining Preston College, Terry has achieved incredible success, including a Distinction in Construction, is awaiting his Health & Social Care results, and is already planning his next challenge by progressing onto a Level 3 Assessor qualification, with ambitions to build a career in teaching and assessing.
His determination and commitment were also recognised at this year’s Student Awards where he was highly commended.
Reflecting on the evening, Terry said,
“It was a very special, emotional evening for me, and one I was proud to share with my family and tutor. It’s a night I’ll cherish forever.”
For Terry, Preston College has been about much more than gaining qualifications.
“The best thing about Preston College is being surrounded by people who support you as you explore new opportunities. I’ve learned new skills, built my confidence, and discovered who I am and what I’m capable of achieving.”
Congratulations, Terry. Your determination and resilience continue to inspire us, and we can’t wait to see what you achieve next.
